Krishna Nagaraja - arrangements, baroque viola, hardingfele
Violinist, violist, singer, composer, arranger, beatboxer, Krishna Nagaraja has always approached music from many different directions. Unmistakeably Italo-Indian, his path has guided him over the years to baroque violin and then to baroque viola, playing with groups like Europa Galante, Accademia Bizantina, Il Tempio Armonico, Il Complesso Barocco, Al Ayre Español, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra. His passion for traditional music has steered him to Irish, Scottish, Breton and Nordic music while his love for choral music has led him to join vocal groups of every size and genre: symphonic choirs (Italian Radio Choir), chamber choirs (TVE, Il Canto di Orfeo, Helsinki Chamber Choir, Bergmania Ensemble), a-cappella groups (Ottava Nota, Maybe6ix). As a result of his vocal experience, nowadays he can occasionally be heard producing weird sounds into a microphone, displaying an art-form called "vocal percussion". Krishna also composes and arranges music of various genres: he has written music for groups like Maybe6ix, Numeri Primi Vocal Orchestra, and the very same Brú. Aside from being the “trad soul” of Brú, he enjoys sharing his latest discoveries in progressive hardcore heavy metal music with his Brú colleagues, stirring up a wide variety of reactions...He holds a Master's Degree in Global Music (GLOMAS) at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland; in the same institution he is currently attending a PhD in Folk Music, where he writes new music for baroque and folk instruments based on Nordic traditional music.
