Anna Besson - baroque flute
Southerner but not lazy, Anna studied modern and early flutes at the Conservatoires Supérieurs de Musique de Paris and Geneva. Passionate about traditional music and dance, the intense focus on the Irish flute and her frequent Irish pub and fest-noz attendance led her to turn towards more archaic music pitches... As an active and versatile performer, Anna has spent several years developing her experience as a soloist and orchestral musician within ensembles such as La Chambre Philharmonique, Le Concert Spirituel, Ensemble Matheus, Le Concert d'Astrée, Orfeo 55, and La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roi, Insula Orchestra, La Belle Aventure, Ensemble Nevermind. She has also played in such prestigious festivals as Ambronay, Royaumont Abbey, Via Staelle in Siantago de Compostela, and the Utrecht Early Music Festival.As a member of Duo Besson-Rio, Anna searches for ways to use her music to encourage people dance. In addition, as an active yoga practitioner, she searches for a way to compliment the musical aspects of performance by searching for her own wellness in body and soul... Winner of the Cziffra Foundation's annual auditions, she is also supported by the Meyer Foundation and Mécénat Société Générale.
