Marco Testori - baroque cello
Currently known for his rock-solid cello playing which earned him collaborations with all top Italian and European baroque groups, Marco started piano studies at a very young age, and later switched to cello, organ and organ composition. After studying modern cello he took up baroque cello with C. Coin at the "Schola Cantorum Basilensis".
The number of ensembles he has played with is too vast to mention...from 1994 to 2004 he played first cello with the legendary baroque ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, with which he toured all the major international festivals and recorded for the label Teldec, and presently covers the same role with the group Atalanta Fugiens.
Numerous are his recordings as a soloist (cello concertos, sonatas, etc.) and intense his teaching activity: since October 2013 he is Professor of baroque cello at Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Multi-faceted musician as he is, Marco is also a dedicated choir conductor: under his direction, the female choir Convivia Musica has won many national competitions. His compositions and arrangements for the choir have received special recognition in choir competitions.
Marco likes to think about life (and music) in wholesome and holistic terms; he is therefore easily engaged in conversations regarding nutrition, well-being, spirituality and enjoys life from his beautiful house in the Lake District in Northern Italy.
