Louna Hosia - baroque cello
Louna was born in Helsinki in 1981. She started her music studies first with piano, then continued with cello and ultimately baroque cello, which she studied in Helsinki, Barcelona and other parts of Europe with many renowned masters. Louna has performed, recorded and toured with various Finnish and European orchestras including European Union Baroque Orchestra, Helsingin Barokkiorkesteri, Opus X, Suomalainen Barokkiorkersteri, New Century Baroque, Concerto Copenhagen and an archipelago of smaller groups such as Cornucopia, Le Fiabe, and Recordanza. Her versatility led her to the viola da gamba, an instrument that she enjoys playing in a number of Finnish ensembles and consorts. A similar curiosity drove her towards folk music and crossover projects like Brú, where she brings all of her gentle and good-natured artistry into the music making. When not busy with baroque gigging or her intense teaching schedule, Louna seeks for peace and inspiration out in the Finnish nature.
